I’m inspired by art that is bold, bright, colorful, and has a lot of texture. I hope to create art that can be described as such.
I was out for a run along the waterfront in Riposto and was quite taken by the shapes and personalities of the trees along the water’s edge. As I approached this particular grouping of three trees I felt an immense lightness and reflexively said “hey girls” out loud.
Something about the way these particular trees grew next to one another, close enough to be family but wholly unique, reminded me of sisters. Both my grandmother and my mother are one of three sisters; and there are three women in my nuclear family. My time at Cummari was full of quiet, but powerful, feminine energy. These trees involuntarily sparked that feeling in me and felt like the natural fit.
