Cummari’s Concept
Thoughtful stays and experiences for female travelers, creatives, and digital nomads—designed by a woman who truly gets it.
Cummari™ was founded by Michelle Titus (aka Miche), a community builder and feminine anthropologist. From 2006 to 2019, she traveled the world—first as an international correspondent, then as the CEO of female-led publishing companies—moving every four months and living in temporary housing. Along the way, she dreamed of spaces designed for women like her: intentional, inspiring, and rooted in community.
When life out of a suitcase began to lose its charm, she shifted course and founded Cummari—planting roots in Sicily, the magical island she calls home.
Since opening its doors in 2020, Cummari has become Europe’s pioneering female-focused coliving project, welcoming women from around the globe. What began as a coliving space known for its inspiring art filled rooms has evolved into a growing network of women’s retreats, international festivals, and online experiences—all co-created with past guests who’ve become valued members of the Cummari greater community.
This September, Cummari expands again, opening a new, larger coliving space in the seaside village of Riposto.

Cummari is an inclusive environment. Historically women have not always been/felt safe when travelling solo and for this reason we prioritize guests who identify as female. With that being said, all genders and identities are welcomed and are vital to supporting Cummari's vision and existence.
We ask those who join us to respect our ethos, to keep a safe place for all, regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, abilities or gender.

Cummari’s Founder
Ciao, I’m Michelle (Miche) andt this is a small piece of my story…
Originally, I'm from a small farming town in Upstate New York (and I currently live in a small farming town on a volcano in Sicily). Through a strong desire to create a life unlike that I had seen growing up and with many leaps of faith, I have built for myself a global life and community. I’ve lived and worked around the world an international correspondent and female founder, soaking in diverse cultures and perspectives —from Belgium to Turkey, Finland to Malaysia. You could definitely call me an “old-school” digital nomad—I embraced remote work in 2006 while reporting for Hong Kong, long before smartphones revolutionized the scene.
In my twenties, I took one of my boldest leaps and launched an international publishing company in China, where I served as CEO and Co-Founder for a decade as the business expanded across Europe and the Americas led by an all female team. In 2019, driven by a desire to align my work more deeply with my passions, I sold my companies and shifted my focus. Now based full time in Sicily for over six years, I focus my energy on Cummari and matriarchal anthropology studies. With great passion I plan related feminine pilgrimages for women in Sicily with SheLegends and a 12 month online program for women called The Women’s Almanac. I am the co-founder and community manager of Zingarelle di Sicilia an international women's community in Sicily and Nomadic Sicily, an international founders festival in Ortigia, Sicily.
My work with Cummari and in Sicily has introduced me to the most amazing women and each day I am inspired and motivated (very needed for a Mompreneur in Southern Italy) to continue on with my passion work.
